O.C.O. concert; something’s old & something new 1

Review by Terry GaisinreviewerETG
I truly believe it was Wolfgang Sebastian Holmes; the late 17th century renovations expert, who coined the cliché -“If it ain’t baroque…don’t fix it!” Compositions created by Purcell, Albinoni, Vivaldi and Pergolesi, are representative of the musical period that encompassed excessive ‘bling’ and complexity.  The Oakville Chamber Orchestra, celebrating 30 years, has not remodelled selections by Scarlatti; J.S. Bach; and Rameau but rather just put a new Handel on the genre.

Birth of Frankenstein… in T.O. ??? Reply

Review by Michael PiscitellireviewerMichael P

When wandering the streets of Toronto, it’s always refreshing to stumble upon something you weren’t expecting to see. Granted, I wasn’t wandering the streets, nor did I stumble upon Litmus Theatre’s production of The Birth of Frankenstein, but I stand by my point anyway. In a city filled with opportunity, such as Toronto, going to a new venue to see a new work, has the potential to be, a breath of fresh air.  Found space theatre can be intimate, exciting and altogether invigorating, especially when coupled with good storytelling, about a good story-teller.

“Tuesdays with Morrie”; interesting any day Reply

Review by Danny GaisinreviewerDGcolor
We’ve seen Mitch Albom’s ‘TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE” tragicom twice before…both of which had our friend Jamie Farr playing the title role. The subject matter – terminal debilitating illness; in this case ALS; touches very close to home (my late mother’s dementia) and I admit to being a failure in compassion plus derelict in proximity & benevolence. However, with Vince Carlin portraying Morrie; Chris Reid as Mitch and the duo under direction of Dia Frid; this was [and is] a must-see rendition.
