Hey, Northerners [Norwesters?]; are you looking for music that hits a little closer to home? The TBSO has you covered. Each year, the musicians of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra set out on two regional tours, to bring as much music as possible to as many people as possible. This year’s tour, thoughtfully arranged by TBSO musician and tour manager Damian Rivers-More, will take our new Musical Director, Paul Haas, and Conductor-in-Residence, Simon Rivard, East of the city. This tour herald’s the TBSO’s return to Terrace Bay after many years, and its annual visit to the Pic River First Nation.
This tour also includes a Remembrance Day tribute in Terrace Bay on Tuesday November 7th, at 10:00 AM. The tour will host a local speaker and a soloist to pay tribute to those who, in the past and present, dedicated themselves to the service of others through military service. Our Eastern tour gives audiences access to music closer to home, and includes symphonic gems ranging from Henry Purcell, to the Baroque, to John Williams’ Star Wars. Catch themes from Harry Potter to Habanera live from November 6th to 9th at Red Rock High School, Lake Superior High School, Marathon High School, or the Pic River Ojibway First Nation Community Centre.Tickets are $20 for adults, and $10 for children, at the door. All patrons are asked to bring a non-perishable good to the concert, in support of local food banks.
